Job Opportunity: Host and Caretaker for the Ukrainian-Danish Youth House in Kyiv

Use your practical and social skills to support youth in Ukraine! The Ukrainian-Danish Youth House is looking for a new colleague who will make sure that the youth who come to the youth house in Kyiv feel welcome and have what they need for their activities and help maintain our physical space in Kyiv.

As our Host and Caretaker, you will be part of the Ukrainian-Danish Youth House’s small and dynamic administration team. You will get acquainted with every corner of our space and (almost) each person using it to make a change in society. You will get involved in the daily activities in the Youth House, coordinate practical tasks, and support with smaller administrative tasks. This is a job for a person who likes different kind of tasks, who is service-minded and love making people feel welcome, and who can make sure that things get done.

As we are an organization in development, you will get the opportunity to make an impact on our internal processes and be part of strengthening good practices, efficient workflows, and good communication.

You will be part of a team of young and dedicated employees in Kyiv, working closely with colleagues in both Ukraine and Denmark.

About us:

The Ukrainian-Danish Youth House is a platform for young people from Ukraine and Denmark that supports youth participation, democracy, and creativity. Based in Kyiv, we offer a creative, democratic platform for everyone between 16 and 35 years of age to engage, facilitate, and support youth projects and activism across our countries. Since 2021 we have done this through making the Youth House available for youth, through our activities and programs, through supporting youth organizations, and through our grants. The Youth House is formally steered by a consortium consisting of the Danish Youth Council and the Danish Cultural Institute.

Tasks:

  • Manage the maintenance of the Youth House in Kyiv
  • Coordinate with contractors and technical workers
  • Ensure that equipment works and there are enough materials in place
  • Be the host and introduce users to the space and possibilities
  • Offer technical support for users of the Youth House
  • Support events and activities in the Youth House
  • Support colleagues with the implementation of Youth House programs

Qualifications required:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience with similar tasks
  • Service-mindedness and a welcoming mindset
  • Stringent and professional approach to tasks and coordination
  • Good technical skills including IT, sound system, etc.
  • Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills
  • Strong command of written and spoken Ukrainian and English (minimum intermediate)
  • Experience working with youth engagement is an asset
  • Possibility to work evenings and weekends
  • A strong drive for positive changes and an inclusive society
  • Base in Kyiv
